What are 'Essential Oils'?Essential oils are made from plants, trees or flowers. They are known from ancient times as a curative for certain issues. Each works differently in the body. For example, say you are nauseous, and something upset your stomach. Many oils are listed as digestive like Peppermint, Ginger for example and if you drink the tea of those it can aid in digestion. The essential oils I put in my Digest Blend are Peppermint, Spearmint, Fennel, Dill and Ginger all considered effective digestive aids the oils are more potent, so caution is always used in determining how to apply and how often. The Lavender flower can help with such as relaxation, sleep issues, wound care and these are just three common uses.

How are 'Essential Oils' different than 'flower essences'?Essential oils are extracted from plant, herbs, fruit, trees, grasses and flowers by steam distillation, cold pressing, C02 extraction and alcohol extraction. The main focus of an essential oil is its scent. For inhalation, application, diffusion. The oils work through the limbic system or your nose, Also, topically diluted in a carrier oil or other base or by diffusion in a machine. Essential oils have been around since Ancient Egypt times as they found Frankincense and Sandalwood in the great tombs. The essential oil action is strong and determinable. Flower essence is the practice of taking mostly the same things as plants, grasses, flowers but instead of extracting a scent from them you are extracting the plants or flower’s essence. What that plant or flower is known for, the plant or flower is picked usually early in the morning placed in distilled water and allowed to sit for a day or more in the sunshine to extract naturally that plants essence. Then that water is bound with a binder like grain or grain free alcohol we used Brandy when making my flower essences that I put in the Chakra Spray kits. A flower essence is the lifeforce of the plant and their action is opposite of essential oils its gentle and very subtle. They work on the nonphysical aspects of ourselves the mental, emotional and spiritual. These are then taken internally or used in baths. The Bach Flower Remedies can be found in most Herbal Stores. That is an internationally known brand however I prefer to choose local to you.

Which Essential Oils help with easing digestive issues?Essential Oils work as listed above in the differences with each plant, tree or flower is known from ancient times as a curative for certain issues. Say you are nauseous, and something upset your stomach. Many oils are listed as digestive like Peppermint, Ginger for example and if you drink the tea of those it can aid in digestion. The essential oils I put in my Digest Blend are Peppermint, Spearmint,Fennel, Dill and Ginger all considered effective digestive aids the oils are more potent, so caution is always used in determining how to apply and how often. I developed my Digest Blend after taking a course with Suzanne Katy (author of many books but most known for Hydrotherapy). She authorized us to use her recipe. The night before the course I had a bad reaction to a soup and been vomiting throughout the night. The next day she was passing around her blend of those 5 oils. I was handed it and immediately placed 4 drops on my tummy then passed the blend on. I felt immediate relief, so I adopted the blend.

Can Essential Oils really heal a person? How do oils help heal? This knowledge comes from the ancient times. Oils and extracts have been used for centuries through the folklore passed down from generations. Now the medical field when developing their drugs or mediations often created the mixtures from using those old texts and making the constituents in a lab. Healing is entirely up to the person no one can heal you only yourself. What oils can help is using a natural curative and the scents can help immensely with the constitution the mind.

Which Essential Oil is best for pain?Peppermint is listed as a common topical pain reliever. Birch or Wintergreen are often used as well ( although they contain almost 90-95 % methyl salicylate -the original ingredient in aspirin - so people on blood thinners are cautioned about using this remedy). German and Roman Chamomiles are considered analgesic. Basil, Black Pepper, Clove, Eucalyptus, Fir, Ginger, Lavender, Lemongrass, Marjoram, Niaouli, and Rosemary are are commonly suggested. My Sports Gel has a number of the oils listed here and are popular because my customers appreciate how this gel soothes and relieves.

Which oils are best for helping with sleep?Number one is Lavender. Also used as sleep aides are the Chamomiles, Bergamot, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Jasmine, Mandarin, Marjoram, Sweet and Blood Orange, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood, Tangerine, Vetiver, and Ylang Ylang. Many are in my Unwind Blend.

How do essential oils help with a Yoga session? The main oils would be the spiritual ones like Sandalwood, Rosewood, Frankincense although mostly being relaxing these oils can help you connect to higher self. The main benefit from a Yoga practice besides the work out for your body is the developing connection to your higher self. These three are in my Meditation Blend. Frankincense helps clear the mind chatter and they all help open the Crown Chakra. Although some prefer the stimulating ones, so their body does not become complacent. Those would be the Lemon, Lemongrass and Tea Tree. Those are clearing and stimulating oils. Depends what you want from your practice.

What can I use Oregano for?Oregano most important role for use is its ability to kill almost every virus known to man. During bomb testing in the states during WW2 they tested what would survive in a blast. It was Oregano and Cockroaches. I use Oregano in my Aroma Detox Massage Kit as it’s a major player in that detox, alignment treatment. The oil gets into the interstitial fluids and circulates killing off viruses and pathogens for about 4 days after application. This is not the same Oregano as you find well diluted at the grocery store for internal consumption. This is much stronger. In the Herb industry its considered that one drop of an herb oil like Oregano, Thyme Rosemary etc. its equivalent to 100 g or 3 oz of its dried herbal counterpart. Many have made the mistake to use the essential oil in their pasta sauces and found the amount was too strong. You may find it too strong to diffuse and for sure don’t bathe in it the skin sensitizing aspects of the oil deem it cautioned for topical usage. In the Aroma Detox Massage Kit, it is applied only after a carrier oil has been applied first.

What can I use Lavender for?Lavender has the most application methods to its name. Almost anything really, its only contra-indicated if you use too much as the sedative and relaxing qualities get reversed if used other than directed. Say your having a bath and the recommended amount for an adult is up 5- 10 drops added to salt or gel then placed in the bath. If you double that you’re looking that the CNS may get stimulated with that amount. Its excellent for lowering BP along with Lemon and Ylang Ylang. Mind you I am not recommending people use it in lieu of medication. It can help in times of stress and anxiety. Wound care you can place an Organic Lavender directly on an open wound and you may see a white drying appear right after. Applying the oil right after a burn can help the skin repair without blistering. Very few oils can be applied without a carrier to dilute, and Lavender and Tea Tree are two of them.

Where do you get your Lavender from? The flower Lavender can help with relaxation, sleep issues, wound care are just three. Far more than get recorded often. The plant Lavender angustifolia is highly regarded in Bulgaria and is of long standing in the lavender community. Europe seems to produce the best in terms of higher % of the Linalol acetate and Linalool both constituents help with relaxing benefits and wound care. Where I get my lavender from is the last big lavender fields being farmed by families most have been taken over by big commercial operations. There is a Lavender grown in Canada but only in two provinces on the coast of BC on the island and in the Okanagan and Southern Ontario. I prefer the scent from Bulgaria myself and carry that one at this time.
